Know Your Numbers Week! 2019
27 August 2019
9th - 15th September
Know your Numbers! is Blood Pressure UK's flagship awareness
campaign. It encourages adults across the UK to know their blood
pressure numbers and take the necessary action to reach and
maintain a healthy blood pressure.
This year's Know Your Numbers! Week is all about knowing your
blood pressure numbers to live a long and healthy life.
Many of us are living well into our 70s, 80s and 90s. With so
much life to look forward to, we want these years to be healthy and
happy for everyone, free from disease and disability.
The key to a healthy later life is in keeping ourselves fit and
healthy for as long as possible, making the most of the support
available along the way.
There are many things that we can do delay or even prevent
disease. Such as stopping smoking, watching what you eat and drink,
and being active. But one of the simplest is knowing your blood
pressure numbers.
High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes, as well
as other illnesses. Once you Know Your Numbers! you can get support
to bring your blood pressure under control and prevent these
diseases.
Around a third of people in the UK have high blood pressure, but
most don't know it. It doesn't have any symptoms so, the only way
to find out is to get a blood pressure check.
Know your Numbers! Week is the UK's biggest and most far reaching
blood pressure testing event and awareness week. Each year,
hundreds of "Pressure Stations" offer free blood pressure checks
across the UK, enabling thousands of people to get a free blood
pressure check. It encourages adults across the UK to know their
blood pressure numbers and take the necessary action to reach and
maintain a healthy blood pressure.
Find a Pressure Station near you. If there isn't a
Pressure Station near you, we would encourage you to pop along to
your local pharmacy as many do offer blood pressure checks as part
of their service, visit your GP or use a home blood pressure
monitor if you have one.
